Raid 0

20 March, 2006 (22:20) | Linux, Software | By: Talon

Well, i’ve been tried of fighting for hard drive space on my file server.  My movies partition which stores movies I OWN and have in my possesion that are legal copies, was full.  150 gigs and its full.  So therefore, I transfered the movies to my computer (filled my 80 gig spare drive and some of raptor) and my bro has some also on his 160 laptop drive.  Then I had a bit of a hard time, but I got the raid1 partition deleted and got it setup/formated/mounted as a raid 0, so 225gigs of usage space now for ripped movies and they are all back on server.  I dont need data backup redundacy for movies I can re rip.  So I have these 3 drives in my server, all IDE, 8MB cache, 7200rpm:

250gig WD

160gig Seagate

80gig Seagate

250 drive has a 80gig partition to match 80gig seagate and raided 1

250 drive has 160gig partition to match the 160gig seagate in raid 0

the rest of the 250 is for /boot, SWAP, / (10gigs total)
