CC new 1u server
CC recieved $1500 in donations in 10 days raising money for a high performance 1u Dedicated Rackmount server. This system will kick the pants off any system they have now.
1U chassi (tripple hot swap sata2) intel mobo supporting up to 32gb FB-DIMM Regsitered ECC 8×240 pin FB-DIMMs, dual 771 xeon slots with active heat cooling built into case. 600 watt PSU. built in video and dual gig lans. It was a bare bone kit for $1,000.
2x 5060 Xeons (3.2ghz dual core, 2×2mb L2, 1066mhz FSB, 65nm)
2x 1gig Kingston DDR2-533 @ 4-4-4-10 FB-DIMM Fully Buffered Registered ECC 240 pin
2x Seagate 7200.9 160gig 7200rpm, sata2 8meg cache hdds
1x optical slim 8x dvd burner.
This system will beat at 2.4ghz dual core Opteron system in benchmarks, and almost match a 2.6ghz Opteron (which run 3x the cost).
This server is planned to be used for the most uber servers, 4x (12 slot, 100 tick, 30,000 rate, 1000 SS FPS fps_max) for Cal/OGL and rent them out to people who want true perfect servers. It will be running CentOS4.2 I386 32bit minimum install distro, (centos has a 1000hz kernal timer)
