New Server
I just ordered a brand new 4U rackmount server to act as my TV streaming/sageTV box. Its a x2 6000+ 3ghz AMD, 2gigs of DDR2-533, dual 500gig sata drives, 500w PSU, 4U Norco case, DVD burner, gigabyte mobo and a 7600gt. The graphics is needed for the TV server to stream live TV to the clients, reduces CPU usage.
I’m taking the CPU out of my IPcop machine and swapping it with my current file server. Then the current file server is being swapped with my bros comp which will become the new file server (my bro will be going from 1.7ghz P4, 512 ram, geforce 5200 to a 2.8ghz P4, 512 ram and integrated gfx). Then his new computer (the current file server) will be upgraded to 1.5gb ram and 7600gs. The file server has a propietry OS that is XP (doesnt need activiation), the copy of XP on my bros 1.7ghz computer will be used on the new TV server and the 1.7ghz computer will be formated with linux and the 5 file server hdds put in as my file server.
My computer will be upgraded from 2gig ddr2-533 to 2gig ddr2-800 from what I ordered and my 2gig 533 will be put in the TV server.
